University of Coimbra (UC)

The University of Coimbra (UC) is a public higher education institution founded in 1290. The mission of UC comprises three pillars: Education, Research and Knowledge Transfer. Classified as UNESCO World Heritage since 2013, UC comprises twelve academic and research units and over forty research centers active across a wide range of scientific fields.

UC promotes innovation and collaboration between academia, industry and society, fostering the translation of knowledge into sustainable solutions.

Within the LIFE-NITRAZENS project, the UC team is responsible for the replication of the project’s tools and strategies in Portugal, validating the adaptability of citizen science approaches, best management practices and awareness campaigns, and assessing their feasibility and scalability to other european contexts, leading the sustainability and replication work package (WP6). It is the primary partner responsible for validating all project tools and strategies in the Mondego River basin in Portugal
